Review: Lucid Dreaming: A Concise Guide to Awakening in Your Dreams and in Your Life by Stephen LaBerge, Ph.D.
Lucid Dreaming: A Concise Guide to Awakening in Your Dreams and in Your Life by Stephen LaBerge, Ph.D. Sounds True. www.soundstrue.com 2009.
This book and CD set work together to provide you with complete lessons to learn how to not only tell when you are dreaming, but how to take control of your dreams to do what you want them to do.
As you read through the book, it will tell you when to listen to a certain track on the CD. I like the way this system works to give you a little bit of extra lecture on the CD and then helps to walk you through the exercises led by Dr. LaBerge.
The tracks on the CD include:
1. Your present state of consciousness and the Lucid dream state
2. Guided Reality Test
3. The Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams
4. Dream Lotus and Flame Technique
5. Trance Induction of Lucid Dreaming: Day
6. Trance Induction of Lucid Dreaming: Night
In the book we learn skills for telling whether we are dreaming or not, skills to help us take control in our dreams, and skills to direct a dream where it is going – in this manner we are able to take control of bad dreams or nightmares and turn them into positive moments instead. LaBerge also teaches us we can use our dreams to heal ourselves, solve problems, rehearse upcoming events in our lives, evaluate information to help make decisions, fulfill wishes and finish unfinished business.
Using the MILD technique taught by Dr. LaBerge all of these possibilities can help to relieve massive quantities of stress in our waking lives..
I really appreciate the way LaBerge writes in a very commonplace, conversational tone. When talking about matters of the mind, writers, especially highly educated ones, often talk above their audience, but LaBerge makes these concepts simple and easy to understand, opening this technique for everyone to use.
